This article over at Tech Central Station is very interesting; and being on a campus where this nonsense goes on constantly, I can tell you that it's also very true.

A grown-up discussion is oxygen for a healthy democracy. But our democracy does not need, and has no use for, losers who pointlessly lash out in anger at their own community.
