Wisdom from Iraq

One last thing before I go get a cup of tea and a muffin and head to class.

Iraq's president (not to be confused with Prime Minister Iyad Allawi) wants foreign troops to stay for the time being.

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Iraq's president said Tuesday it would be "complete nonsense" to ask foreign troops to leave the country now, although some could depart by year's end. Officials began the final vote tally from elections to produce a government to confront the insurgency.

I completely agree, and this has been the plan all along. As the Iraqi security forces become stronger and more confident, foreign troops will begin rotating out of the country. The process should begin by the end of the year, but to claim that the Coalition should just pack up and leave immediately is foolhardy. (Don't tell Dennis Kucinich I said so.)

Right then, wankers, more later.
