Manic Thursday

Good glaven, what a day, and it's only half over.

I set my alarm clock for 05:00, which meant that I finally got up at 06:30. Not good, as I had a bunch of math homework to do. I had intended to get to campus prior to 07:30 so that I could do it in the library, but as I wasn't on campus until a couple of minutes before 08:00, that was out of the question. I went straight to my classroom and started working... After I used the restroom. Now, on the first day of class the prof told us that we should expect to do twelve and a half hours of homework each week. Last week I nearly finished my assignment in two hours. Today, I finished it in under an hour. It wasn't completely right, and I need to go back and review on my notes on a couple of things, but I did it in under an hour, and got full credit. Sorted.

I made a couple of calls back to last year's co-workers in the old country. Apparently Pockets has himself a new bird, and Pete doin' fine as well. I hadn't spoken with Pete since before Christmas, so it was good to hear his voice.

I had a delightful lunch with Young Nathan, who's probably going to read this at some point. There's nothing like a lukewarm steak and cheese sandwich to keep you going.

Eventually I got to the Armory to check in with Colonel Schoutter. He'd tweaked his back, which means that tomorrow's yomp is cancelled; even so, he said that I'm not allowed to go on it for liability reasons. That really sucks, but I may end up getting up early and doing a yomp of my own.

Apparently the Egyptian imported gift shop doesn't exist anymore. I was going to get a papyrus bookmark to send to one of my contacts in the old country. There's another Egyptian gift shop, right next to where the old one was, but run by a different owner. The owner was, unfortunately, not there. I spent the next ten or fifteen minutes waiting and chatting with the marginally cute ginger who was working in the Android's Dungeon next door; I think she was probably pretty bored, since most of the people who play games like Magic or Yu-Gi-Oh are either A) still in school at 14:20 or B) in their mothers' basements, terrified of the sun and smelling like stale fruit punch.

(I actually got Little Miss Ginger to admit that a lot of their clientelle are the latter, although there are apparently parents who will play that Yu-Gi-Oh game with their kids.)

Now I'm home. I may polish my new dress shoes and my boots, and I may not. I may clean out my car... Or I may not. I will, finally, after nearly a year, get a bunch of quotes entered into a Wordpad document so that I can start writing a long overdue paper.

I'll do a news roundup... Shortly.
