Unhypothetical

Okay, so I have a situation that I'd love for you folks to help me out with.

I have this friend, whose identity will remain a secret; she's been mentioned on here, but not in any detail. Anyway, she and I have been friends since I was eleven. We went through middle school and a lot of high school together, but didn't get really close (so to speak, I guess) until late in high school. Of all the people I went to high school with, she's one of two that I have regular contact with, and the only one who was in my grade.

So, here's the question. This particular individual calls me at least every couple of weeks; far more regularly than the other individual, for what it's worth. I've had a romantic interest in her for a very long time, but any attempt I've ever made to explore the possibility of introducing that element has been kept in check by her. Even so, she's the one who keeps calling.

Now, I'm obviously not complaining; I think really highly of her, and we get along well. Plus, there's nothing wrong with having a hot female friend. My question for you folks is: if she's not interested in a romantic connection, why is she keeping in such regular contact with me?

I anticipate some great responses, as well as some funny ones... Particularly if Lycan or Harley reply.
