Forty Posts to Freedom

This is post number 1961 for the Fly. That means that, after this post, there are thirty-nine posts left until I hit 2000. Here's a brief recap of my day.

My plans to arrive a bit early to campus and get some reading done were derailed when I saw a couple of friends, one from college, one from high school, in the coffee shop on the bottom deck of the library. After that, I got up to the top deck for two excruciating hours of class, including the final quiz (in two parts). Tomorrow are oral presentations, with a handwriting review on Friday.

After class I walked with Mormon Buddha, who's probably going to read this (and will hopefully comment), to his car, then we drove to my car where I intended to have a brief conversation with him (at this point it was about 11:20, giving me about an hour to get to the gym). The conversation went much longer, and eventually egyptjen arrived, so I decided to bag the workout for the time being and head straight to work, picking up an MRE first so that I could eat something.

I worked from 14:30 to 16:05, and right now I'm home for a few more minutes on my dinner break. At about 16:25, I got a call from M@, who informed me that his Air Force Reserve unit is going to be activated. He's not sure yet where they'll be sending him, but he'll probably be deploying at the end of October. My hope is to be back in the Old Country for a few months within the next few weeks, and God only knows where I'll be in the next year, so my hope is that his deployment won't have a huge effect on our relationship; and if it does, my hope is that it's a temporary one. He's still processing it himself, and had a final today and has another tomorrow. No rest for the weary, I suppose.

It's about time for me to change my clothes, grab something to throw in my satchel, and run off to work for three hours. Hopefully I can get a couple of things accomplished quickly upon arrival so that I can spend the rest of the time catching up on the writing and reading that I missed yesterday; then I can afford to go for a run once I'm back home. Luckily it's not as hot today as it has been in recent days, and by the time I'm back from work the sun should be largely below the horizon.

More soon, including Iran, and a couple of articles that have slipped through the cracks in the last few days.
