The Great Shake

For those of you who were in news blackout all weekend, there's been a massive earthquake in Pakistan. The death toll will probably exceed thirty thousand, and may get as high as forty thousand. Looks pretty horrendous.

UPDATE: Analysts are saying that Pakistan's acceptance of quake aid from India could bolster the peace process between these two countries. I'll be cautiously optimistic on this one; let's not forget that Pakistan is a hotbed of Islamism. We can hope for the best, while remembering that American and Australian aid to Indonesia after the tsunami was met with last week's repeat Bali bombing. Go figure.
