Lazy Wednesday

So, were any of you planning to point out to me that I'd written "2008" instead of "2009" on several of the Fly Reports this year? No? Really?

Hey folks. Another day, another short post. This is turning into a really busy week for me - surprise, surprise. First, the news.

  • Taliban Whopper: Claim 5,220 Foreign Troops (killed)
  • The will to peace - In true misguided British fashion, this article compares the Gaza conflict to Northern Ireland - apparently the author never read my article explaining that the Provisional IRA isn't equivalent to Islamist terror groups.
  • Gaza conflict: Who is a civilian?
  • Nigerian pirates grab French ship - I thought we only had to worry about Somali pirates!
  • Morales: Bolivia to Launch TV Station with Iranian Backing - Some people may not be paying attention, but the Islamists loonies have been cozying up to radical left wing South American governments for years now. Bad, bad mojo.
  • Iran, Bahrain Call for Oil as Weapon - A bit less effective now that oil's dropped in price so much, but we shouldn't forget this one any time soon. Islamist regimes (and Bahrain, apparently - didn't see that one coming) are more than happy to at least talk about using their oil supplies as a weapon to get their way, even if the reality is that a country like Iran is in tough shape without oil money constantly streaming in.
  • At 50, Cuba's revolution showing its age - Suffice to say, the Cuban Revolution didn't turn out to be all it was cracked up to be, particularly once there was no Soviet Union to keep propping it up and painting over the decay.

Following up on yesterday's Switchfoot video, here's their song "Twenty-Four".

Today's satellite image is the USS Pueblo, an American ship that was captured in the 1960's that's still being held in Pyongyang, North Korea. For more information on USS Pueblo, check out the Wikipedia entry.

    Have a great day, folks.
