The Crucible Returns

Remember a couple of weeks ago when I didn't post much on account of having a lot of things to do for school? Well, here's the run-down of what I've got this week.

* Two PowerPoint assignments, due at midnight on Monday and Wednesday respectively; started, need finishing
* One hundred fifty pages (or so) of the Quran with notes for Class 4, due Tuesday at 1430 (plus supplemental readings)
* Five-to-seven page paper for Class 5 (the class I'm taking to satisfy my "diversity" requirement), due Tuesday at 1530; unstarted
* Class 2 midterm, Wednesday at 1100
* Class 3 midterm, Thursday at 1300
* Quite a bit of reading, most of which won't be touched

As for my social calendar...

* Socratic meeting, Monday 1900
* Tea, Wednesday 1500
* Tea, Friday 1000

There are two funerals that I should really go to this week. There was a guy who my grandparents essentially kept alive for a number of years after he retired from their employ; I didn't know him well, but he'd been an extended member of the family since before I could remember. He was in the truck with my grandfather, and he finally died last week. I really have no choice; I have to skip his funeral on Tuesday.

And the other? One of the teachers when I was in high school was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis ("Lou Gherig's Disease", also the disease that afflicts Dr. Stephen Hawking). He was only supposed to have had a couple of years to live, but he held on for seven. His body succumbed to the disease last Thursday. I've known that the day would come; I just didn't know that the funeral would be during Class 5, which is graded largely on attendance. I'll likely take the course pass/fail as a result of this; I'll not miss his funeral, and one is only allowed three "skip" days per term. I've already used up one for granddad's funeral, and I'll likely use another in March.

At any rate, I'm going to watch the rest of the latest episode of Spooks, do some reading, and then turn in. Stay out of trouble, wankers.
