Unity of Purpose

The Europeans are practically wetting themselves at this. (BBC, AFP)

US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, seeking to allay European fears of a preemptive US strike on Iran's nuclear sites, said Friday an attack "is simply not on the agenda at this point".

I don't know that a military intervention in Iran is necessary, but the option needs to be retained or else all diplomacy with the Mullahs is worthless.

On Wednesday, the President said:

Today, Iran remains the world's primary state sponsor of terror -- pursuing nuclear weapons while depriving its people of the freedom they seek and deserve. We are working with European allies to make clear to the Iranian regime that it must give up its uranium enrichment program and any plutonium reprocessing, and end its support for terror. And to the Iranian people, I say tonight: As you stand for your own liberty, America stands with you. (Emphasis added)

One way or another, Iran's days of pursuing illegal weapons, rigging elections, crushing dissent, denying citizens their freedom, and ruling their country through the lens of a tenth-century understanding of the world are numbered.
