Chinese Rights
China is unhappy about an American report on its human rights record.
Well, so much for the moral majority of the United Nations, the organization that should be condemning China's human rights violations. China's "very dissatisfied" with the report? Well, I notice they're not denying the charges. "Double standards"? When was the last time an American dissident was killed? Hear me now and believe me later, if American dissidents were killed, then San Francisco and Berkeley would be smoking craters right now. Do I expect that China will do the right thing and clean up its act? Of course not.
China has condemned a US report alleging serious human rights violations, saying it could damage relations between the two countries.
The report, released by the US state department on Monday, blamed China for the killing and torture of dissidents.
China said it was "very dissatisfied" with the report.
"The US should stop using double standards on human rights and stop interfering in the internal politics of China," said a spokesman.
"This kind of report will do nothing good for the improvement of bilateral relations. It will do no good to improve mutual confidence in each other," added foreign ministry spokesman Liu Jianchao.
