Snipers Down

I don't generally cover deaths in Iraq or Afghanistan, for the simple reason that they're not news. In fact, the news that should be reported is that there have, in two and a half years, been less than two thousand deaths in Iraq, and I think less in Afghanistan in three years. So-called "journalists" try to use the deaths of coalition personnel to underscore the human cost of the war, and they cover any lunatic parent or grandparent who goes on a tirade against President Bush due to their inability to realize that their loved ones were volunteers.

On occasion, though, there's reason for reporting these deaths, and today is one of those occasions. Seven U.S. Marines died in Iraq today, and six of them were snipers. They were stripped of their gear and weapons, which means that those savages have some of our gear now. Let's hope that these Marines' comrades send these terrorist barbarians to Allah real soon.

If you've got some money, I highly recommend making a donation to American Snipers, formerly Adopt-A-Sniper. Want something for your trouble? Why not "buy" one of their products.

American snipers, be they Army, Marines, or the handful of Navy snipers, are the best shooters in the world. In spite of this tragedy, let's keep them going, and help them to continue killing bad guys and protecting everyone else.
