BSG: Kicking Ass Since 2003

There is one show I have taken to watching religiously on the teevee. It's not South Park, it's not The Simpsons, it's not reruns of Star Trek, it's not CSI.

It's Battlestar Galactica.

I've just finished watching this week's brand new episode, and it had me glued to my seat. They managed to work a great, and completely realistic, storyline about an unscrupulous, agenda-driven journalist into what I consider to be a remarkably pro-military episode that directly mirrors the public relations nightmare that the Department of Defense has to fight every day. This public relations campaign was, of course, waged directly alongside the campaign for the very survival of humanity, a mirror to the important fighting that our folks in uniform are in every day.

And the surprise ending? Bone-chilling, absolutely stunning. If you're not watching it, you're not just missing out on great science fiction, superb special effects, and excellent drama; you're missing out on truly outstanding television, of a caliber that we aren't used to in this era of ultra-cheap reality TV rubbish and expendable sitcoms penned by writers who are unfit to provide an exegesis of a single stanza of Dante.

Wow. Just... Wow.
