Meetin' People

In the last two weeks, I've met a total of nine people who I had previously known only through the Internet or the telephone machine. With the exception of one guy who I basically knew nothing about beforehand, they were all pretty much exactly what I'd expected. Now, I've met various people before through the Internet, and though a few of them have been different in person than I'd expected (including that girl in about 2003 who, as God is my witness, looked like an actual, bona fide troll), most of them have been exactly what I'd expected.

So, what about you folks? How many people have you met in real life who you'd met originally through the Internet? Have they been what you expected? Any particularly funny stories?

For what it's worth (and I'm forwarding the link to this post to him), when I met up with Troll Girl (whose name I don't even remember now), we convoyed to the local pool hall. While we were on the way, I tried desperately to set up a courtesy call with anyone and everyone, including my buddy Big Laud. Unfortunately, I couldn't get a hold of anyone, so eventually I excused myself on the basis of homework or work or something. I felt pretty lame, but as I remember, she was both Mormon and a smoker, not the mention the fact that she literally looked like a troll.
