Best Weekend Ever?

Hey folks! I hope everyone had an outstanding weekend. I can't remember the last time I had such a great weekend. I've mentioned Butt Rubber and and Olive Oil in a few previous posts. Last Sunday, they invited me to come up and spend this weekend with them, and before I could actually confirm it, it was a foregone conclusion for them. For a few reasons, I was a bit conflicted about it... But then I got word from Olive Oil that they'd gotten steaks and goodies for the weekend, and I decided that I couldn't possibly turn them down under those circumstances. I am sincerely glad. Here's a list of what we did over the course of about forty-eight hours.

  • my first time in a swimming pool in over a year
  • dinner out with Butt Rubber, Olive Oil, the Dagger, Disc Golf Hero, and Disc Golf Wife
  • birthday lunch
  • an afternoon at the National Museum of the Marine Corps, to include seeing a noteworthy flag
  • Hancock (good flick)
  • smoking cigars and grilling up steaks with Butt Rubber
  • watching TaleSpin with the Dagger, and then Borat once the Dagger had gone to bed (Olive Oil had not seen Borat prior to this - very entertaining!)
  • playing Marvel: Ultimate Alliance with Butt Rubber until 01:30
  • writing an article for my parallel writing endeavour and having Butt Rubber proofread it - with a bowl of Lucky Charms in there somewhere
  • Chuck E. Cheese

As I mentioned on Friday, this weekend included my two favorite days of the year: Independence Day, followed by my birthday. Throughout it all, the Butt Rubber and Olive Oil made me feel like I was a king. I don't think I've experienced such amazing hospitality since my stays in Düsseldorf and Paris, with the possible exception of my two stays with Mighty Mo. I think the only thing that could have improved the evening might have involved an attractive and permissive young lady, although to be honest, that may have actually been too much.

What's more important, perhaps, is that this kind of weekend is something I basically never saw back at Zoo Station. Sure, I had some great times there, but this kind of outstanding weekend would have been pretty much impossible. That's a big deal. So, once again, I'd like to publicly thank Butt Rubber and Olive Oil. From the bottom of my cold, black heart: thank you for making this weekend a weekend to remember.

I have a number of other items to discuss, but they can wait until tomorrow. In the mean time, here's the last installment of Ross Kemp in Afghanistan.

Have a great day, folks, and check back tomorrow for more from your most excellent host, the Fly.

Hey, you pick the strangest names for folks. I realize they fit, but boy, some of them are odd. :)
    Happy belated birthday, sir.
