News and Reds vs. Blues

Quick post today, just the news and a video. I should have more tomorrow, time permitting.

  • Guardian: The Last NATO Secretary General?; AFP: Challenges aplenty as ex-Danish premier takes over at NATO
  • US drones to target Taliban in Afghan war (AFP, Fox)
  • Italian Archaeologists Find Lost Roman City that Preceded Venice (BBC, Times)
  • CNN: Alleged rebel diary ties Ecuador president to FARC guerrillas - So, let's recap. Not only has Hugo Chavez been passing Swedish-made rockets to FARC rebels, but now Ecuadoran President Rafael Correa has been tied to them. You've gotta hand it to those far-left South American strongmen, they're sure upstanding citizens.
  • BBC: New gin distilleries for London - My favorite English gin is Boodles, my first bottle of which was purchased for me as a graduation gift by the Dark Horse Sandal Man, because he was in the mood for a gin and tonic.
  • FSM: Arabs' Language Oppression Squelches Intelligence
  • AFP: Ex-Soviet states meet for 'Russian NATO' summit
  • UPI: Taliban good behavior guide a fantasy
  • Newsweek: Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar - Father Time asked me to research Mullah Mohammed Omar's second-in-command. This is what I found.
  • Newsweek: Losing Afghanistan's Drug War - Gee, most of what I read says that we're making pretty good progress on the drug war in Afghanistan.
  • BBC: Hidden Gobi Desert relics found - Cool.
  • Defenselink: Remains Identified as Navy Captain Michael Scott Speicher - This is a big, big, big deal. Read this article.

Oh, yeah, and an old video from Red vs. Blue.

That's it. Have a great day.
