Clash of the Tribals

There's been a bit of a misunderstanding.

The United States military has dismissed border clashes between Pakistani and Afghan troops earlier this week as a "misunderstanding".

Fighting on the border between the two countries resulted in the death of a Pakistani soldier on Sunday.

Pakistan said the clashes were "totally unprovoked and uncalled for".

Troops from both sides exchanged artillery and mortar fire in the fighting, which took place in the North Waziristan tribal area of Pakistan.

"We believe that this was nothing more than a misunderstanding between the two sides present on the ground at the time," US military spokesman Major Mark McCann told reporters in the capital, Kabul.

So, let me get this straight, there's an accidental incident of friendly fire between Pakistani and Afghan troops, and what does the BBC run as their headline?

"US plays down Afghan border clash"

Simply stunning how unbiased and reliable those BBC folks are.
