Surprise, surprise, Corporal Wassef Ali Hassoun is missing!

RALEIGH, N.C. — A Marine charged with desertion in Iraq after mysteriously disappearing from his post has again been declared a deserter — this time for failing to report to his U.S. base.

Cpl. Wassef Ali Hassoun, who claimed he was abducted by anti-coalition forces in Iraq, was declared a deserter Wednesday, a day after not returning for duty at Camp Lejeune.

"We don't know where he is," said Maj. Matt Morgan, a spokesman for the Camp Lejeune-based 4th Marine Expeditionary Brigade. "The military is actively looking for him."

Wassef Ali Hassoun is a deserter, almost certainly a traitor, and quite possibly a terrorist. He should have been locked in the brig when they found his military ID and passport in Fallujah in November, and they should have thrown away the key.
