End of the Line

Posting will be light for the next few days. My grandfather just died.

UPDATE: I'm stuck here at home for the time being, so I may as well expand on this. When I got home from campus today, I was informed by my mother that my grandfather had been in an automobile accident. She said he had a collapsed lung, a broken femur, and a broken pelvis, and that he'd been life-flighted up to Metropolis. As dad had called and was nearly back home from Wyoming, he was going to drop off something at work, then come pick her up and take her.

We learned a while afterwards that he'd been taken to College City, not Metropolis, which probably meant that the problems weren't as severe; as you can probably imagine, Metropolis has a much more extensive medical capacity than the College City hospital. Dad got home, grabbed something to eat, took a couple of things out of his vehicle, and the two of them left.

While the two of them were on the way to Good Samaritan Hospital in College City, I got a very staticky call that sounded as if it was my grandmother's voice, but I couldn't really hear it through all of the static. Finally it cleared up a bit, and it was my grandmother. She asked if my dad was there, and I said that he and mum were on the way to the hospital. And then she told me that my grandfather had just died. Now my parents are there, and everyone is making "business" arrangements.

I was supposed to work tonight. Instead, they're shutting down the office at 17:00. There's more detail that I could put here, but that would compromise my position.

This is two members of that side of the family, daughter and now father, killed in automobile accidents. Bollocks.
