Replacing Yasser

It appears that Mahmoud Abbas, AKA Abu Mazen, is the newly-elected leader of the "Palestine" Liberation Organization/"Palestinian Authority".

My reaction? There's no such thing as "Palestine". That having been said, I think that maybe the ship has sailed on Israel taking full control of its legitimate territorial holdings. As Jordan has been uninterested in absorbing the "Palestinian" population for nearly sixty years now, I think the only viable option is for the "Palestinians" to have their own state. Even then, I don't think that will really solve anything; the "Palestinians" aren't angry with the Israelis because they lack self-determination, the "Palestinians" are angry with the Israelis because they're Jewish infidel pig dogs.

The only hope for the Arab population of Israel (not "Palestine") is for them to realize that the leaders who are bilking them for billions of dollars worth of aid and taxes are not their allies, and that those who wish to give them self-determination are. I don't agree with everything Mahmoud Abbas has said or done, but he seems totally different than Yasser Arafat, and that is a good thing.

I'll comment more as this develops.

I know this will be wasted on you, but it is a fact that the reason ht Palestinians are angry with Israel is that even when they had their land carved up by the british for the israelis to use, more land was stolen and Israeli's continued to settle and 'occupy' land that is not rightfully theirs. This was backed up by american money, and therefore impossible to defend against, the palestinians were forced into the position of fighting, simply for the right to live in peace, without being settled or murdered. This is accepted as fact by almost everybody, except Jews, who will not be happy until every arab is exterminated.
Your jaundiced opinion only serves to reinforce the idea that they are right, which they are not.

"Palestine" has never, ever, ever, ever existed as an independent Arab/Muslim state. It has always existed as a subject region of other nations, these nations including Babylon, Persia, Greece, Rome, the Byzantine Empire, the Ottoman Empire, Great Britain, et cetera. "Palestine" is the name of a region, not a nation.

As proof that you are historically incorrect about the source of aggression, I cite the 1948 Arab-Israeli war (declared by the Arab states as soon as Israeli had declared independence), the Six Days War, the Yom Kippur War, the Intifadas, et cetera. Israel is "occupying" territory that has historically belonged to Israel, and it was given the opportunity because the Arab states declared war and attempted to invade three times, not vice versa.

Sorry, mate. You're on the wrong side of history... And you're pretty rude, to boot.
