Permanent Desert Vacation

Now, I hate hot weather in whatever form it takes, but if I had a choice, I'd want to stay in a cushy American prison in Cuba instead of being back to the desert.

The US is seeking to cut the number of Guantanamo Bay detainees by more than half by transferring them to jails in Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan and Yemen.

Hundreds of terror suspects could be handed over, according to senior officials quoted in the New York Times.

Previous attempts at transfers have been resisted because of concerns about US security and prisoner mistreatment.

The US is keen to reduce the number of captives following a series of adverse court rulings against the detentions.

There are currently about 540 detainees in Guantanamo, including more than 100 each from Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia and Yemen.

The Pentagon is seeking to work with other US agencies to return some of the prisoners to their home countries for continued detention or to be freed outright, said senior administration officials.

Well, at least all of these terrorist vermin are getting what they want, right? They get to go home... Right? Right!?

How much you wanna bet there's going to be whining about this move from Human Rights Watch and all the other terrorist-coddling leftist lunatics?
