Showbiz Nonsense
There are three things I'm going to waste one post on, because wasting three posts would be the ultimate betrayal.
Topic #1: I think this nonsense with Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes is an absolute publicity stunt. Today on the radio they played clips of the two of them, independently being interviewed on Leno (Cruise) and Letterman (Holmes), and neither of them would answer where or how they met. Both of them are promoting summer movies. I think it's all for added press coverage, and unfortunately, it's working. I may go to see Batman Begins, I'll very likely go to see War of the Worlds, but all of this tabloid publicity is getting annoying.
Topic #2: Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. Question number one: who cares? Question number two: whose brain is small enough to believe that they're not nailing each other? I'm strongly considering a trip to the theater to see Mr. and Mrs. Smith, not because of all of the asinine hype, but because it looks like a seriously outstanding flick. Brad Pitt's a gomer, and Angelina Jolie is A) crazy and B) not attractive, at all, so it's certainly not the "star power" that will draw me to the theater if I go. It just bugs me that so much hype is being generated about two overrated actors and whether or not they're bumping uglies.
Topic #3: Apparently the district attorneys prosecuting Michael Jackson are already celebrating a victory. If I were superstitious, I'd say they're jinxing the whole thing. I haven't been intently following the trial, but I've been paying attention when possible. I think the prosecution's case is pretty strong, a lot stronger than the defense case. I also believe very strongly that Michael Jackson is guilty; the kids' fingerprints on the porno mag, the gay porn next to the jar of Vaseline, the "Jesus Juice", the whole thing just reeks of a concerted effort to seduce and prey on young boys. I think that the case against Jackson for molestation is much stronger than the case against Scott Peterson for murder was, and we all saw the result of that. Until the jury comes back with a verdict, though, it's just a game of guessing and waiting.
I'm particularly interested to know what everyone thinks of the Jackson trial, but if you've got comments on any of the three topics, please post 'em.
