International Liberals Just Don't Get It
Sweet merciful glaven. I'm going to finish out the evening with two stories, both from the AFP War Wire.
First, Kofi Annan is at it again.
Really? Increased nuclear proliferation? I wonder what could have caused that, Kofi! Maybe an ineffectual, corrupt Secretary General, leading a corrupt, inept, broken international body that won't do anything to hold rogue states accountable? Could that be a factor? Idiot...
And the other story? Have a look at this nonsense from our Canadian neighbors.
If you're the Canadian foreign minister, and you're reading this, here's a tip. When the entire world is keeping a close eye on Iran's efforts to illegally produce fuel for nuclear weapons, it might be a good idea not to get sidetracked to issues of human rights. Baby steps, Mr. Pettigrew. Baby steps. Let's get them to stop making weapons that could kill millions of people, then worry about their human rights record.
Liberals just don't get it.
First, Kofi Annan is at it again.
UN Secretary General Kofi Annan warned Saturday that without concerted action, the world faced a "cascade of nuclear proliferation" 60 years after the first atomic bombing in Hiroshima.
Amid standoffs with Iran and North Korea over their nuclear aspirations, Annan said, "We are witnessing continued efforts to strengthen and modernize nuclear arsenals."
"We also face a real threat that nuclear weapons will spread. Without concerted action, we may face a cascade of nuclear proliferation," Annan said.

Canada threatened Friday to introduce a UN resolution on Iran's human rights record as it called on the Islamic republic's new government to improve its human rights record and change its position on nuclear ploriferation.
Canadian Foreign Minister Pierre Pettigrew urged new Iranian President Mahmood Ahmadinejad to "usher in an era of change" to repair relations hurt by the killing of a Canadian journalist in Tehran.
"As no real improvement in Iran's human rights conditions has been noted to date, consultations have begun between Canada and its like-minded partners regarding a possible new resolution on Iran's human rights situation before the UN General Assembly in the fall of 2005," Pettigrew said in a statement.
