Hey Big Spender
The Czech Republic is making a $41k donation of old uniforms and weapons to Iraq to help the Iraqis protect their "cultural heritage".
Now, call me crazy, and if I were Iraq I'd appreciate the help, but don't you think that the Czechs could have done better than $41k worth of junked weapons and uniforms? This sort of seems like the time when I was a little kid that my grandmother gave me a ladies' wallet as a gift: thanks, but no thanks.
Whatever.
UPDATE: Have a look at the quote from the Iraqi ambassador to the Czech Republic:
"Yeah, Grandma! This poster of President Grover Cleveland is the best gift I ever got! I'm going to go put it up in my room right away!"
I'll give the Czechs credit for the $78 million they've given for various aspects of the reconstruction, and I'll acknowledge that this is a great gesture. Just seems a bit odd, that's all.

Iraq's ambassador to the Czech Republic, Zia Hadi Mahmood Dabas, told journalists the weapons and uniforms were mainly for humanitarian, not military, purposes and would provide moral support to the Iraqi people.
"You cannot measure the value of this contract, it is a huge moral support to the Iraqi nation," he told journalists.
