TDG #2 - The Fly's Solution

I didn't get a single submission for TDG #2, but I'll post my solution anyway. By the way, reading back through it, I apologize for a couple of parts of the writeup I hosed up.

With a time limit of twenty-four hours, give me an action plan. I want insertion method, location, and route to objective. I want unit deployment scheme for three squads, one sniper team, and one SMAW team, and a rough plan for the farm house operation. I want a withdrawal route and plan. Questions can be directed to me by E-Mail or in the comments to this post.

  • Insert by helicopter (MH-46 Chinook), five miles from objective. Platoon yomps in, maintaining noise, light, and signal discipline. Drop point is southeast of the objective, at the bottom of the hill slope shown on the map.
  • SMAW team deploys to the road connecting the objective to the Dounby garrison, supported by two fire teams from 1st Squad.
  • Sniper team sets up on the hill system, overlooking the objective, waiting for signal; security provided by the remaining 1st Squad fire team.
  • 2nd and 3rd squads deploy along the chest-high shale wall; strict noise discipline, as this is near the outside sentries.
  • On my signal, sniper targets guard by the door, then guard by the garage door (on the left). 2nd squad provides covering fire as necessary, 3rd squad moves up and employs concussion grenades through the windows into the two downstairs rooms occupied by tangos.
  • Once outdoor sentries are dropped, sniper has instructions to watch the upstairs windows to make sure the remaining tango, whose initial position is on the upstairs landing, doesn't eliminate or hunker down with one or both hostages; eliminate if necessary.
  • With 3rd squad providing cover, 2nd squad is then to sweep the house, take custody of the volunteer hostages.
  • Withdrawal is by MH-53 helicopter for 2nd and 3rd squads and the hostages, MH-46 helo for the SMAW team and sniper team and 1st squad; helos will be dispatched several minutes prior to first shots fired. With proper coordination, and a relatively simple plan, the entire operation should take no more than two minutes from first shot to total withdrawal. This plan maximizes security for all elements.

So, there you have it. I'll try to post a new TDG in the next twenty-four hours; if nobody plays this one, then I may quit doing them.
