Arbeit Macht [Classified]
It's finally Friday, and what a week it's been: trucking around Hampton Roads, working with Surfer Dude to locate parks for yomping, trying to catch up on sleep, trying to study Arabic... Well, trying to do quite a few things. I have several projects to work on, and an article due Sunday morning, so I'm going to try to spend the next couple of days working on some of that. In the mean time, this modified Arbeit Macht Freitag post detailing sensitive subjects should entertain you folks on this Friday, 07th March 2008.
First, and thanks to Mighty Mo, here's Stuff White People Like, a blog detailing... Well, yeah, things white people like. I have to admit, a few of these hit pretty close to home. Very funny stuff.
As I've made clear in the past, I think that most of the links at MSN are absolutely worthless, but every now and again they have something interesting or useful up there. Last night, I ran across an MSN link to a newsweek audio slideshow on mission/unit patches for clandestine operations. Some of these are very cool, and if you have a few minutes they're worth checking out and listening to the commentary for.
A lot of clandestine programs operate in my old stomping grounds, the Mojave Desert. When you're driving through the desert, there are all sorts of peculiar things out there that you'll find yourself just stumbling upon, like the Owens Valley Radio Observatory, or random mines, or Barstow. There has long been speculation that aliens crash landed in the Southeast; the name that's usually thrown around is Roswell, New Mexico, but the actual site of the fabled Area 51 is at Groom Lake, smack dab in the middle of Nevada. Even though it's now well known that the Groom Lake facility exists, it continues to be one of America's most protected and secretive installations... So shhhhhhhhh!
In light of all of this sensitive information, I hope everyone is able to have a nice, low key weekend as I intend to do. Also, if any of you finds out where I actually intend to go hiking on Saturday... Well, keep it under wraps. After all, it's[CLASSIFIED] squirrel-secret.
