Wednesday Roundup

I'm in a pretty foul mood, so today's post is going to be brief.

One of the first things that President-Elect Obama has promised to do is to close down the detention facility at Guantanamo Bay, in favor of criminal court trials on American soil. FSM's John Armor has a fascinating piece that details how Obama's proposed change to the Bush administration's policies are on the wrong side of history. Michael Yon also has a new article about Afghanistan, specifically focused on Obama's promises and proposals for the conflict in that country and the wider repercussions of the war.

There's also an entertaining piece from Foreign Policy on Five Real Missions for 007, just in time for the American debut of Quantum of Solace on Friday. This follows the video I posted a few weeks ago, and a hilarious thread on the Wired Danger Room blog about possible Vladimir Putin supervillain schemes for the near future.

And finally, following up on this post from last week, another co-worker told me about the NovemBeard website. I'm not on there, but it's sure entertaining to go look! According to the site rules, you're allowed to trim, so I may or may not use that as justification to trim my goatee down to match the rest of my beard growth. I'll probably post a picture at the end of the month, and possibly a couple in between then and now.

Alright, that's it for today. Check in tomorrow.
