Cut his head off!

The Bulgarian News Network and the Washington Times are quoting Al Bayan daily newspaper, and "a semi-official daily" called al-Sabah, respectively, both of which say that terrorist lunatic mastermind Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the Jordanian leader of al Qaeda in Iraq, has been arrested.

The U.S. military is denying the report at the present time. More on this as it develops.

For more information on al-Zarqawi, best-known for fleeing Afghanistan after being wounded in the 2001 coalition invasion, moving to Iraq, and cutting off the heads of such people as Nick Berg, you can check out the BBC News profile, or review Secretary Powell's Remarks to the U.N.S.C..

In case anyone in the Iraqi security forces or the Coalition is reading this, here are a few tips that may help identify him:

- Is monopedal (has only one leg)
- Will answer most questions with the following: "Die, you Zionist infidel pig!"
- Likely to have a consistently, tenaciously unfriendly attitude

Let's hope this is him. If it is, I'll volunteer to cut his head off myself.

UPDATE: No word from the mainstream media yet; I'd imagine we'd have heard something by now if it had been confirmed.

I guess it would be too much to ask what bit of your amateur theology leads you to offer to be an executioner?

Exodus 21:12 says: "Anyone who strikes a man and kills him shall surely be put to death."

Now, Jesus promoted mercy and compassion, and that's all good and well, but He said nothing dismissing the death penalty. If He was so specific as to say that the laws governing what people ate were no longer in effect, isn't it reasonable to think that He would have been very specific about abolishing the death penalty in Judeo-Christian society?

Few criminals reform; most turn into repeat offenders. Murderers who are released often go on to kill again, and the same goes for rapists, child molesters, and the like. In these cases, justice is served by removing these people from society.

Abu Musab al-Zarqawi published video footage of himself cutting off Nick Berg's head. He's been a terrorist leader and mastermind since the late 1990's. There will be no reforming him, there will be no serving justice without killing him.

That's how, in my amateur theologian way, I can justify execution and still consider myself a devout Christian.
