Operation Clambake
As an amateur theologian, I enjoy reading about religions contrary to my own when I have the time and motivation. While I don't endorse Operation Clambake, it's sure interesting reading. If you've ever had an interest in the secretive Scientology movement started by science fiction author L. Ron Hubbard, go check it out.

It is telling that a sci fi author designed this futuristic religion, and not a good sci fi author.
Well, for what it's worth, I enjoyed the film "Battlefield Earth", though I've never met anyone else who could say the same. I wish I could read it, but the bloody thing's something like a thousand pages long.
Oddly enough, Hubbard was quoted as saying something to the effect of "if you want to make money, don't be a writer, make up your own religion."
