No Cover Up

I told you so.

LONDON, England (CNN) -- Brazil's ambassador has said he believes there was no cover-up by British officials in the fatal police shooting of a Brazilian man mistaken for a terrorist on the London Tube.

When asked about a cover-up, Ambassador Jose Mauricio Bustani told a London news conference Tuesday: "No, at this point, no. ... At the moment, we don't have any reason whatsoever to assume that."

I pretty much called this last week.

I'll say this, though. In any tube statin, there are going to be witnesses. There's no such thing as an empty train on the Underground, and there are always people around there. If the guy was wearing a light denim jacket, didn't jump the turnstile, didn't run for the train, and the police shot an inconspicuous man who was already seated on the train, then why haven't we heard this other side of the story from eyewitnesses in the Tube station? If you think that the British police can suppress a story like this for a month, you're not paying attention.

I'm skeptical of this story, but if it's true, the British police are in big, big trouble.

I find it very hard to believe that the Brits wouldn't tell the Brazilian envoy the whole truth, and if the Brazilian envoy says that there's no evidence of a cover-up, that's good enough for me.
