Preordained

Yesterday afternoon I took a long nap after an unexpected four hours of work on my only day off for two weeks. I went to bed at midnight, and I was still awake at 1:20 AM, and decided that I may as well accomplish something, so I got up and proceeded to finish the book I was reading, and at around 2:25 AM I came across this passage...

"He became vividly conscious that his knowledge of Malacandra was minute, local, parochial. It was as if a sorn had journeyed forty million miles to the Earth and spent his stay there between Worthing and Brighton."
- C.S. Lewis, "Out of the Silent Planet"

For those of you who don't know, I was living and working in Worthing (on the southeast coast of England) last year; Brighton is thirteen miles east of Worthing, and my work took me there four or five times. I travelled further than the distance between Worthing and Brighton, but the company I worked for stretched as far west as Littlehampton and as far east as Shoreham-by-Sea, and that was my primary location for two months. Reading that passage made it almost seem that the revered Dr. Lewis was writing specifically for my benefit more than half a century ago.

Because I was up so late, I slept a lot later than I had originally intended, so this'll be the last post until early this afternoon. Stay out of trouble, and read through the news updates below so that you can be aware.
