Probing the Chain

This CNN article demonstrates to me just how ignorant journalists are.

al Qaeda has always been a loosely organized organization, employing independent cells around the world. al Qaeda serves as more of a loose confederation of terrorist groups than a massive organization. It's not like a military organization, like the 10th Mountain Division or the Royal Marines or something; it's a network or groups with common ideologies and goals. That's how it's always been.

al Qaeda is on the run, and though it may be gaining worker bees on a limited basis, the strategic and financial leadership is fragmented and ineffective. Usama bin Laden can release a new video or audio recording every now and again, but we've destroyed his ability to transmit marching orders or funds to his cronies. The way to keep al Qaeda on the run is to keep the initiative, and keep hitting al Qaeda and other terrorist organizations before they can reorient. That's a big part of the reason that President Bush attacked Iraq.

Ignorant journalists annoy me.
