Pressing On

Good grief. Sweet merciful glaven. All that jazz.

I got called out to go to work at 02:33. I'll refrain from detail; let's just say that they don't get much worse than they did this morning. At any rate, I left the house at about 02:45 and got back just after 06:15 or so. That's right, ladies and gentlemen: after four and a half hours of sleep, I was out at work for three and a half hours. Ugly.

Once I was home, I had to get a couple of things sorted out so that I could go to bed without later interruption; instead, I wound up in the family room, where the working DVD player is (mine's been unreliable for a year or two now), and watched the fifth of six episodes of MI-5/Spooks. The hour-long episodes (which is to say, featuring all of the footage deleted to let it run in the time allotted when broadcast on A&E) are really excellent, and the fifth episode, "The Rose Bed Memoirs, was simply outstanding, with three delightfully intertwined plots that came together at the end, with a single loose end left to tie up in the last episode of the first series. Not enough to shake the first few hours of the day, but good nontheless.

I'll accomplish something today. Really, I will. Mark my words.

UPDATE: Speaking of Spooks, I present to you the actress whose character was killed off in the second episode, Lisa Faulkner. I'm going to have to say that this was a mistake on the part of the producers. Just look at her!
